Pacer has recently completed the design and construction of the Secondary Processing Plant for OM Manganese at their Bootu Creek mine in the Northern Territory. The project commenced in 2008 with Pacer assisting OMM in the development of the conceptual design of a plant that would re-process the reject materials from the existing processing plant. This would add significantly to OMM's overall manganese production.

Pacer successfully carried out the full detailed engineering design for the project, including civil, structural, mechanical and electrical design and drafting. Pacer also manufactured and supplied all of the fabricated plant & equipment for the project. With only a limited window to complete the supply, Pacer sourced goods and fabricated items from all over Australia, with over half of the fabrication taking place in Darwin.

Pacer assisted OMM with management and technical support during the construction phase of the project. Approximately 14,000 man hours were invested in the construction phase of the project, over a very limited window of 14 weeks, with no lost time injuries and negligible rework. This is a testament to the level of focus and quality that was put into the design phase of the project and the adherence to strict quality controls during the manufacture and supply phases.

The Secondary Processing Plant was successfully commissioned in December 2009, and OMM is on track to achieve record production levels.
The project had a value of approximately $15M.
